Cupping Therapy

An Ancient Practice that still holds true today.

With origins as far back as Kemet, 'cupping' is a worldwide modality that uses 'cups', along with negative pressure to primarily remove, or suction, unwanted materials from the body.  Whether it be to draw out sickness, pains, pathogenic substances and/or evil spirits (in various cultures). Today, therapeutic cupping is used for everything from constipation to cellulite to back and shoulder pain.

What to Expect After a Therapeutic Cupping Session

Everyone responds differently, however the following suggestions will help ensure that you feel your best! Therapeutic Cupping bodywork is beneficial to both your physical body and overall wellbeing.  During this process, it is imperative for you to take care of yourself after your session.

*Hydration is very important when receiving any bodywork, especially therapeutic cupping bodywork.  Cupping pulls water from deeper cellular tissue spaces up to the surface tissues.  Because of this process, hydration needs to be replenished when therapeutic cupping is applied.  Furthermore, drinking extra water afterwards helps flush internal 'toxins' that have been released back into circulation from within the body's tissues.  It is recommended that hydration is maintained until urine output is clear or pale in color.

*Limit physically exertive activities (exercise, etc.) for at least two hours after your session, as cups alter the natural state of soft tissues.  Individual time responses may vary.

*Monitor tissue exposure to extreme temperatures (hot, cold) for at least two hours after your session, as cups may alter one's internal body temperatures or leave tissue hypersensitive.  Individual time responses may vary.

*Post treatment recommendations are offered to ensure optimal results with any bodywork, including therapeutic cupping.

Some feel tired and lethargic, while others feel energized and revitalized! If you should have any additional questions following your session, please be sure to contact us.
